 When I was first hired I found this site while researching my brand new employer.  In my first 3 days on the job I witnessed firsthand about 90% of the complaints made in the posts here.   Rude co-workers, managers "in hiding", mispriced products, backstabbing, no training, favoritism, horrible attitudes everywhere.....and on and on!   
I really need this job though, any job really!  I just moved here and AAFES is the only one that took me...so here I am. Gotta start somewhere.
And with most of the employees in a nasty mood all the time I can understand why some of the customers were not so nice.  I think they were taking it personally. So it might go like this in their heads....... "The person waiting on me obviously HATES their job,  that job is serving me, so in a sense .......this person hates serving ME. "   Put yourself in their place for a minute. 
Also don't think for a minute that they can't see the problems with AAFES management......they can!   But at the moment all they can see is the miserable employee that doesn't want to be there serving them. 
I say Fk it....just smile a lot.....and wait for  the crappy paycheck.   Do your job the best you can.  Try to like your customers and act like you love your job.
  The reason I'm ramblin' on about all this is because a customer offered me a job today...a pretty good one too......AAFES really does suck......and I'm pretty sure the guy could see that.  But there I was,  smiling away and chattin' him up.  I was in a pretty good mood considering all the BS I deal with there. Probably looked like I didn't belong or something....who knows.  Anyway....I say if ya hate AAFES but ya gotta be there then make the best of it.  Good employers want good employees and bad employers just don't give a rats arse.  So let AAFES make managers out of the crap they have left after the really good employees network themselves outa there.
I do love the customers....have always done good in retail too....could probably make manager in no time there but some asshole above me would just make me as miserable as them.....not for me.  If it turns out that this dude can't help me get out of there then maybe the next person I'm nice to can. That's my goal..... to go!

had to laugh at the goals,,, to go,, totally funny,, i think that is most of our aafes goal is to go Smiley I find it so funny that Dallas is pushing that,, do they really think thank everyone isnt just logging onto the wbl and clicking true to the answer if we reviewed the material? Can they be that stupid ? Pay me a decent wage and treat me like a human being and I just might have some goals within the company.

Gosh...don't keep making fun of the silly...just click yes quizzes on WBL(way below legit). If you throw the HQ clowns into another fit about everyone just pretending to review the worthless material in most of the courses..they will just make the mandatory courses longer and your poor supervisor will need to sit there all day taking everyone's tests.

Working for AAfes does kinda blow.  I work with 4 managers/supervisors and 2 other employees.  Only 1 supervisor actually works.  I never see the other ones.  I have to work twice as hard for a lot less money.  I get sick and tired of this.  Who gets all the praise?  The supervisors.  Who does the work?  Not them.  If something is wrong who gets the S#@t?  Well us workers.  AAfes needs to pull their heads out and see what goes on.  These people in the "real world"  would not have a job.  Undecided

 I find the "Anti-Terrorism" training a JOKE. Like your really going to learn that on a pc.

They do that now, especially in the food facilities. Ask the employees if they have seen, say, the back safety training videos and most of them will look at you with a blank stare. Their names appear on training rosters for classes they never knew were given.

The terrorism course might mean something IF it wasn't the same exact course every year. And you still get credit for it even if you get every answer wrong (and that would be hard to do if you have been around more than two years). You also can skip the scenario part completely if you want. It doesn't count against you.
