How can the general manager of Minot AFB, ND get away with telling someone who is the most qualified applicant for the position that they cannot work at a certain concept (Charley's) because one of their relatives works there in the same food court but in a different concept (Taco Bell)?

I used to work there with this relative and there was no favoritism. She was above me and according to the food court manager was placed in charge in her absence. That not once happened. The only thing my relative gets when the FC manager is gone is write ups. I worked in a seperate concept because it was allowed. AAFES sent me to FL for 3 weeks to train me and spent $4,000 to do so. I left about 8 months later because I was tired of the bullcrap drama even the food court manager herself would create. She would promise the same manager position to 3 different people in the same concept just to see what would happen. In the end not a single one of those 3 got the job. One of those 3 in particular made the other 2 same with countless other employees quit because she wanted the spot that bad. She even made me quit. I was above her but because she actually ran a BK she thought that no one was above her. She just didn't like the fact that I was younger and less experienced then her but I was certified to run it . The food court manager did nothing about this problem. Now I am regretting ever wanting to go back. The general manager herself said I cannot come back because of my relative who works there in taco bell. There is a mother and a son, a pair of brothers, and a married couple all working there but all in seperate concepts. They would rather give all their positions to people who have never even worked at a Charleys or the ones that like to do nothing but take all the gratitude. It seems like if you aren't liked but you do the job perfect, it's still not good enough. They want you gone if you don't conform to their click. My ID expires within the week and I will be very happy to be rid of it. Screw AAFES! I am sick and tired of click bullcrap drama. I am tired of AAFES saying that they equally employee people but they dont. If you are not liked then you won't get a job at Minot AFB and if you leave don't expect to come back even if you are promised your spot back.

If you have the certs and are willing to move, I know there are at least three Charley's openings nationwide. I am surprised AAFES let you go after the training.

And, for the record, the only rule about family working in the same area is that your family member cannot be in your regular supervisory/rating chain. I don't know of a single base in the world where there are not family members working in the same exchange (or even in the same facility). I started in the same facility where my dad worked.

Put it this way--you don't have time to count all the relatives that work together at HQ, including many who ARE in the same supervisory chain or in a position to influence how their relatives are treated there.
